Taking Care of the Most Important Part of the Farm
Written By: Farm4Profit Media
You service your equipment before something breaks. You check on your livestock when something doesn’t look right. You scout your fields and make adjustments when they need it.
Why wouldn’t you do the same for yourself?
We know farming isn’t easy. Markets change, weather doesn’t cooperate, costs are always climbing and you can count on having something that needs done. When your farm is also your business and your livelihood, it can be hard to leave work at work.
That pressure is part of agriculture, but ignoring it shouldn’t be.
You wouldn’t keep running a tractor when you know something isn’t right and hope the problem fixes itself. The same thinking should apply to you. Pay attention when something feels off and know when it’s time to ask for help.
At Farm Progress Show, Farm4Profit had the opportunity to bring more attention to farmer mental health alongside Perfect Sunday. It’s a conversation we want to keep going long after the show.
We talk a lot about making your farm more profitable. Taking care of the person running it needs to be part of that conversation, too.
