Drainage Tile

Drainage tile, also known as subsurface drainage, is a practice commonly used in farmland to improve water management and soil fertility. This practice involves installing a network of perforated pipes or tubes in the soil, which helps to drain excess water away from the surface of the land.
One of the main benefits of drainage tile is improved water management, as excess water can cause soil compaction and limit root growth, which in turn can reduce crop yields. By removing excess water from the soil, drainage tile helps to prevent these issues and ensures that plants have access to the water they need to grow.
In addition to improving water management, drainage tile also helps to promote soil fertility. By reducing waterlogging and improving soil aeration, drainage tile creates a more favorable environment for microorganisms and other soil life, which are crucial for nutrient cycling and plant growth.
Overall, the use of drainage tile in farmland has many benefits, including improved water management and increased soil fertility. Farmers who implement this practice can expect to see healthier crops and higher yields, as well as improved long-term sustainability of their land.
